Legend Fitness is honored to be the primary provider of strength and fitness equipment to Team GB for the 2020/2021 Tokyo Olympics. Across three different locations, we provided vital equipment that allowed the best athletes in Great Britain to prepare for their events.
This is our second time providing outfitting Team GB’s on-site Olympic training facilities, thanks to our UK reseller Absolute Performance. Previously, we outfitted the team’s Rio 2016 Olympics training center. At the Olympics in Tokyo, Team GB had three world-class training facilities full of Legend Fitness equipment. With many of our best pieces in place, some of the top athletes in the world worked to maintain their strength and agility in preparation for the Olympic games.
Scroll down for a brief overview of each of the Team GB Tokyo Olympic training facilities and links to a more in-depth look at each one.
Team GB Olympic Training Center at Keio University
The Keio University training facility was located within the spacious Keio University Hiyoshi Commemorative Hall building. This installation featured two areas: one for general strength and conditioning and one dedicated to weightlifting. This was the most photogenic site, and many of the photographers and athletes were encouraged to take pictures in front of the “gold lion” wall. Aesthetics aside, this is a powerful and inspiring training space for Team GB Olympians.
Team GB Olympic Training Center at Todoroki Stadium
The Todoroki Stadium played host to the majority of the team pitch training during preparation before the games. The hockey, rugby sevens, and football teams used this facility, as did the Team GB track and field throwing athletes, including sprinters, runners, hurdlers, shot putters, and hammer throwers.
Team GB Olympic Training Center at the Odaiba Performance Lodge
The Odaiba Performance Lodge was located in the Odaiba region of Tokyo and was a little removed from the typical distractions found in the Olympic Village. This multi-use wooden basketball and gym court was converted into a vast rubber gym floorspace with Legend Fitness equipment and more for strength and conditioning training during the games. All of Team GB visited this facility for individual strength training sessions during the games.
